Internal and Targeted campaigns are served when an Email Experiences user emails an individual whose email address matches a specified account, contact target, or internal domain. When Email Experiences users email recipients who do not match a target rule, the Sender-Based or Default campaign is served. Depending on your Email Experiences environment and the deployment method leveraged by your organization, functionality varies slightly.
Windows Outlook Agent
With Windows Outlook Agent, all recipients copied on an email communication are served the same campaign banner. Internal campaigns are served whenever an email is sent to any number of internal recipients. Targeted campaigns are served when emailing any number of external recipients at a single account domain (who match a contact/account rule). In this scenario, Targeted campaigns are served even if other internal recipients are included. This ensures that targeting for the external customer is always preferred. When emailing recipients at more than one external domain in a single email communication, the Sender-Based or Default campaign is served. In this case, when a campaign is served to multiple recipients, analytics for views & clicks are tracked to “someone@” for the given recipient domain. Windows Outlook Agent users will always display the Sender-Based or Default campaign during compose. The campaign won’t be updated to the targeted version until after the send, when the end recipient has been identified.
Mac Outlook Agent
Mac Outlook Agent does not support Dynamic Campaign functionality (i.e. Targeted and Internal campaigns).
Chrome Extension
For Gmail customers using the Terminus Chrome Extension, all recipients copied on an email communication are served the same campaign banner. Users of the Terminus Chrome Extension must use Gmail in the Chrome browser. During compose, the Sender-Based or Default campaign will always be present. The campaign won’t be updated to the targeted version until the recipient address is added to the compose window.
Sigstr ONE
With Sigstr ONE, Email Experiences users can email multiple internal and external email recipients at the same time and still serve Dynamic Campaigns to each recipient, assuming the various recipients match account or contact rules. This is the case with Sigstr ONE because Email Experiences content is appended after the send and each email is treated independently. The email source also doesn’t impact functionality. You can serve Dynamic Campaigns from your mobile device, tablet, laptop, etc.
