Overview
The Terminus Tag for web experiences is a single line of javascript which, when placed on a website, allows Terminus to detect visitors on your site, and be able to serve personalized content experiences to them. This tag can be added either directly to the website, or via a tag manager such as Google Tag Manager. We will cover both methods in this article.
Adding the Terminus Tag Directly to a Website
- The first thing you will need to do is capture the unique embed code generated for your website. To do this, navigate to the “Settings” menu option in the web experiences interface, located in the top right and select “Javascript Tag” from the dropdown.
- Selecting “Javascript Tag” will open a window that displays the unique embed code. Click the “Copy Javascript Tag” button to copy the code onto your Clipboard.
- Paste the embed code into the global header of your website. Once the tag is included on all webpages, you will be able to begin targeting and personalizing for your website visitors.
Adding the Terminus tag Using Google Tag Manager:
- Begin by displaying and copying the Terminus javascript tag as in steps 1 and 2 above.
- Within Google Tag Manager, select “Tags” from the left hand navigation and then click “New” in the top right corner.
- In the new tag interface, name your new tag “Terminus Embed Code”.
- In the Tag Configuration, choose “Custom HTML” as your tag type.
- In the Triggering section, select “Page View” and “All Pages” as your trigger type. (Note: you may need to create this as a new trigger type if it doesn’t already exist in your Google Tag Manager account)
- Once configured as above, save the new tag and then submit changes for publishing.
