Performance reporting within the Terminus website personalization interface is displayed in two primary locations:
Accessing the Dashboard
The Performance Reporting Dashboard provides more in depth performance metrics than the primary dashboard. Using the Performance screen, you can adjust date ranges and dive more deeply into performance trends by campaign, segment, content, page and test. Additionally, the Performance dashboard provides the opportunity to export data..
To access the dashboard, select “Performance” from the left hand menu. This will open the primary performance page.
The core elements of this dashboard are:
- Date Range Selector: By default, the dashboard will be set to the past 7 days. Using the selector, you can change this to the last 30 days, the last 90 days, or a custom date range
- Data Exporter: Selecting the button in the top right will export all of the data for the defined date range in a .csv file. Note that this data is exported in a standard format and the format cannot be changed or customized
- General Overview
- Personalization Performance: This is where the bulk of reporting analysis will be displayed.
- A/B Test: Described below
The general overview shows an aggregate of impressions, clicks, clickthrough rate, and goal conversions for the given period. The data shown is representative of ALL personalization served during the period. Clicking on each category at the top of the page, will show the data for that particular metric.
The “Personalized” designation shows the data for all targeted segments. The “Non-Personalized” designation shows the data for any “All Visitors” or “Default” segments that served content to everybody regardless of their segment membership. As shown below, clicking on these options will hide/show the respective data lines on the chart.
The most detailed look at performance and trends will come from exploring the various fields within the Personalization Performance section of this dashboard, located just below the General Overview graph.
The personalization performance screen shows the impressions, clicks and click-through rate for campaigns, segments, and content. It also shows total completions for each goal.
As shown below, you can also click on any of the metrics in the chart’s legend to show/hide them from the chart.
Hovering over the details on the chart (in this example, the Homepage Hero Campaign), will open a detail box. It will also allow you to click into the campaign to view more details. (Or, if you’re viewing segments, content, or goals you can click into each of those data fields for a more detailed view.)
Clicking into a campaign will show you a more detailed view of that campaign’s performance. It will also show which segments performed best within that campaign, on which pages that campaign performed best, and if you click into any of the segments listed, you can get a more detailed view as to which pieces of content performed best for that segment.
The A/B Tests section of the dashboard (located below Personalization Performance) will list any Rule that has shown an A/B test during the established date range.
Clicking on the Rule Name will open a more detailed view of the test’s performance.
As shown above, the detailed view will list each piece of content shown in the test as well as the impressions, clicks and clickthrough rate. With this information, you will be able to determine which version of the test “won” and to make any decisions based upon that outcome.
