Custom Title Targeting Overview
Terminus offers customers the ability to target specific job titles within their target accounts that go beyond the platform’s function/departmental and seniority targeting. This allows customers to narrow in on their reach in order to focus on certain types of personas that are of most value within those advertising audiences.

How to Apply Custom Title Targeting to a Tactic
Please use our Terminus Support Portal if you wish to launch an advertising tactic using Title Targeting and select the following options:
- Request Type: Ad Experiences - Custom Campaign Targeting
- Custom Campaign Request: Add Job Title Targeting to Campaign
- Upload a .CSV list of Job Titles you wish to apply to the tactic. In the request, please also note which tactic(s) the titles should be applied to
Measuring Title Targeting Tactics
7-14 days post-implementation is the ideal time to start seeing results. During this time period engagement tends to see an uptick and can be seen in metrics such as CTR, View Through Visits, and Site Visits. Compare tactic performance and benchmarks against your results before Title Targeting overlays were implemented.
Best Practices
- Title Targeting is a great use case if you want to narrow down a large audience, especially enterprise account lists, where we know that there is a large pool of employees.
- Make the best use of a limited budget by tightening your audience and only spending money on the personas you want to get your message in front of.
- Due to the hyper-targeted nature of Title Targeting, it is most recommended for MOFU or BOFU stages. It is not recommended for the TOFU (Awareness) stage because you are limiting your reach and excluding potential personas that you want to be aware of your brand.
- Title Targeting should not be used when targeting small companies (those with less than 500 employees).
- Title Targeting Segments may also be used to exclude certain job titles. For example, you may want to target the Marketing department but apply exclusions on some titles that are not very relevant to your buying committee.
Limitations
Title Targeting is a backend targeting filter that narrows audiences based on their Titles using 3rd party data. As a result, updated reach numbers do not push back to Ad Experiences because the machine is analyzing applicable Titles in real-time. Therefore, leverage your CSM or DMM to help you understand your reach numbers or request a potential spend report through the Terminus Support Portal to help you better understand your audience sizes.
Please note that this cannot be implement on Global Targeting (IP) tactics.
