Background
Microsoft has released a new Outlook for Windows that is a new version of the Outlook desktop application. This new Outlook changes the way Outlook signatures are managed.
The changes from Microsoft impact the functionality of the Terminus Outlook Agent Version 6.5.0 and older and the ability to update email signatures on an ongoing basis.
However, Terminus has developed a new Outlook Agent Version 7.0.0 that supports signatures in the new Outlook for Windows.
Terminus Outlook Agent Version 6.5.0
The Terminus Outlook Agent Version 6.5.0 currently adds a new file to a user’s hard drive representing the Terminus-controlled signature - copying the user’s existing default signature if the customer is campaign-only, and updates a registry value to make said signature the default.
When the new Outlook for Windows is toggled on, the Terminus Outlook Agent Version 6.5.0 does not have the ability to update these on-disk signatures. If you wish to continue to leverage Outlook Agent Version 6.5.0, you will need to ensure the new Outlook for Windows is toggled off.
Microsoft has outlined multiple ways to opt out of leveraging the new Outlook for Windows. Microsoft outlines how to toggle out of the preview here. As an admin, if you wish to turn this feature off in the Outlook desktop app for your organization, please review this Microsoft resource.
Terminus Outlook Agent Version 7.0.0
For those organizations that have already migrated to the new Outlook for Windows, Terminus has developed a new Outlook Agent Version 7.0.0 that supports signatures in the new Outlook. Please refer to this article for an overview of the functionality and installation steps for the new version.
Longer Term Changes
Since the new Terminus Outlook Agent is built as a custom web add-in, there is potential to expand this solution to support signatures for the classic desktop Outlook for Windows, Outlook on the Web, and Outlook for iOS and Android.
If you have further questions, please submit a ticket through the Terminus Support Portal.
