Ensuring Google Web Designer HTML5 Compatibility With Terminus

To ensure compatibility with Terminus Ad Experiences, complete the following step for each HTML5 creative you want to upload.

These instructions are current as of Google Web Designer Version: 10.0.1.1204:

In Google Web Designer:

1. Make sure to set the project's environment is set to "Non-Google Ad"

3. Rename the "Tap Area" Component ID and the Tap Area Name to "clickTAG"

4. Make sure the clickTAG component is the highest layer on the timeline. Otherwise your ad may lose clicks!

5. Ensure the Tap Area is resized to be overtop the entire ad creative.

Custom Code Method:

1. Find the closing </body> tag and paste the following block of code right before it.

<script type="text/javascript">
function getParameterByName(name) {
name = name.replace(/[\[]/, "\\[").replace(/[\]]/, "\\]");
var regex = new RegExp("[\\?&]" + name + "=([^&#]*)"),
results = regex.exec(location.search);
return results === null ? "" :
decodeURIComponent(results[1].replace(/\+/g, " "));
}
var banner = document.getElementById('YOUR_DIV_ID_HERE');
banner.onclick=function(){
var clickTag = getParameterByName('clickTAG');
window.open(clickTag, "_blank");
};
</script>

2. Replace YOUR_DIV_ID_HERE with the DIV ID= from your <div> tag directly below the opening <body> tag. This ID is typically "gwd-ad

3. The dimensions of all AMPHTML ads must be declared with a  <meta> tag in the document <head>:

<meta name="ad.size" content="width=W,height=H">

4. Zip the .html , .js and images folder together, DO NOT zip the files as a folder underneath a folder, the .html needs to be on the root level of the zip directory.

5. Upload the .zip file to Terminus and set your click-through URL in the Terminus UI. Click on the Uploading Creative section of the How to Launch a Display Advertising Tactic article for step-by-step instructions.
